Assistive technology on campus

We have a range of assistive technology available for students to loan on a short and long term basis. Students who are not eligible for Disabled Student’s Allowance can access this equipment alongside students who need short term loans until their own DSA equipment has been delivered.

All networked University PCs have TextHelp Read & Write available to all students. MindManager mind-mapping software is available for all students on campus. A small number of computers in both Library@Murray and St Peters campus Library have Dragon Naturally Speaking assistive software packages available for students. These computers are bookable.

The Disability Support Team can also provide some assistive software on a loan basis. Contact us to find out more about what may be available.

Often students will apply for funding for their own equipment through Disabled Students Allowance, the Disability Support Team can give guidance on how to do this or see our Disabled Students Allowance Page.

Our DSA Assessment Centre provides Study Needs Assessments for Disabled Students Allowance which includes the recommendation of assistive technology where appropriate.
