University Accommodation FAQs

For questions relating to University managed accommodation.

Are Halls of Residence still open?

Yes, our Halls of Residence remain open to all those who are living there. We have staff in our Security and Facilities team at hand to help support all students who are currently living in University managed accommodation.

If I leave the accommodation early will I get a refund?

Students that have already left University owned accommodation will be refunded from the 23rd March for the remainder for their accommodation contract.

For those students now wanting to leave University owned accommodation before the Easter break, we will refund their rent payment from the end of term (Friday 3rd April) for the remainder of their contracts.

If you are an overseas student, please ensure to inform the University you have returned home by completing our Overseas Returners Form.

I have left the accommodation without handing in my key and won’t be returning to the Accommodation?

If you have left without handing your key back, please send your key in the post to your Halls Reception.

If you are an overseas student, please ensure to inform the University you have returned home by completing our Overseas Returners Form.

I have left but I still have belongings left in my room.

If you have not already done so please email your Halls Reception to inform them that you still have belongings in your room and you intend to return to collect them when it is safe to do so.

Can residents still access the laundry safely with reference to social distancing?

Before using laundry facilities, residents can log onto the Circuit website “laundry view” to see if the machines are in use before going across to the laundry.

Residents are to be aware of social distancing and not hang around the laundry. Once they have put their clothes in they should leave and return later when the cycle has finished. The laundries are big enough for a couple of people at a time if there is already a couple of people in the laundry they should leave and return later.

I have left the accommodation early, should I pay my third installment?

If you have left your University managed accommodation early and have informed your Halls Reception of this, we would ask residents not to pay their 3rd instalment.

If you are still living in accommodation, please continue your payments as usual.

For most residents the 3rd instalment is not due until the 01st May 2020.

I have left my accommodation but have belongings still in my room, what happens?

If you have left your university managed accommodation, but have left belonging in your room, you are still eligible for a refund but you must notify your Halls Reception that you are planning on returning to collect your belongings.

Your belongings will be kept secure until it is safe for you to return and collect your belongings. Residents are also asked return their key by post to the Hall Reception as soon as possible.
