First Choice Progression Scheme FAQs

For advice and guidance for those looking to take part in our First Choice Progression Scheme.

How do I contact the First Choice Team?

You can continue to contact us via our First Choice email address, or through our Facebook group. We also have a First Choice mobile phone number in operation: 07557849725.

As always, we are available to offer to support on all University matters, not just queries regarding our First Choice progression scheme.

I have just signed up to the scheme, will the skills sessions still be going ahead this academic year?

Yes the scheme is going ahead. We are currently working on some digital alternatives to the school and college visits we had booked in over the next couple of months.

We will contact colleges and schools, and our First Choice participants and members when we have more information on this.

Will the Year 12 Summer School still be running?

The dates for this year’s Summer School are currently planned for Wednesday 1 July, Thursday 2 July and Friday 3 July, including the option for overnight stay in student accommodation.

Although these dates are beyond the current isolation timescale suggested by the Government and Public Health England, we are working on a number of contingency plans should this change. The health and safety of our First Choice members is paramount and we are aiming to ensure that any alternative trip onto campus will be hosted within a risk free environment.

I have completed all compulsory elements of the First Choice Progression Scheme, will I still receive the benefits now?

Yes. We are in constant contact with our Student Administration team about the process of making offers to Year 13 students during these unpreceded times.

All Year 13 First Choice members who have made an application to the University of Sunderland will receive the promised benefits of the scheme, subject to their course being eligible. A reminder of the terms and conditions surrounding eligible courses is here.

Please do not hesitate to contact the First Choice team should you have queries regarding your application.
