01/06/2020 - Paragraph 2.34 of the Covid-19 Guidance for Tier 4 Sponsors and Migrants states 'Applications can now be made to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for a new ATAS certificate. Current rules on the requirement to obtain an ATAS certificate continue to apply.' Any student who is required to complete a Tier 4 application to extend their studies must comply with Tier 4 and ATAS requirements and complete an ATAS application at the earliest opportunity. 22/05/2020 - The Home Office has extended their support for those who have not been able to return home due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Visa nationals currently residing in the UK will be able to extend their leave until 31st July 2020 if their previous leave expired after 24th January 2020 and leaving the UK was not possible due to self-isolation or travel restrictions.
Students should email CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk and provide;
Please note if you have already had your visa extended to 31st May 2020, your visa will automatically be extended to 31st July 2020.
You will be expected to leave the UK and return to your home country once it is safe and possible to do so.
The Home Office will respond as soon as possible to confirm the request has been approved and your visa has been extended.

You can also contact International Student Support via Compass for additional support and guidance. This includes if you have an upcoming visa expiry beyond 31st July 2020, and therefore don’t qualify for the above allowance, but still have questions regarding your immigration status.
13/03/2020 - International Student Support have received the following message from Northumbria Police regarding Police Registration appointments:
‘We have been advised from senior Management that from Wednesday 18 March visa registration appointment will be suspended for about 6 weeks due to the ongoing Coronavirus (covid19)’
Northumbria Police have stated that they will be emailing individual students who currently have appointments next week. If you are due to register with the police, you will not be able to book an appointment for the next six weeks. International Student Support will update this page once appointments with Northumbria Police are available.
