Project Shine a Light: The project offers a student-centred approach across student journey to achieve greater understanding and to provide a targeted and proactive service for our ethnic minority students. This initiative guides students from various ethnic backgrounds through their academic journeys, showcasing the plethora of support services available. A project that aims to support students from other ethnic minority background such as African, African-British, Indian, Asian, Indian-British, Arab, Arab-British, Pakistani, Pakistani-British, Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showman, Boater, Afro-Caribbeans. It intends to get these students closer to different University services and encourage them all through their student journey.
Read a A Story that Shines a Light from the lived experience of our Project Shine a Light Officer. He hopes to inspire students from ethnic minority groups. It's a story that shines a light as an International Student from Nigeria coming to the UK during the second wave of COVID-19. Overcoming doubts, navigating academic hurdles and taking charge, finding support and a community to forge a path forward.
