Enrolment

Enrolment is the most important part of your journey to becoming a student. Without this, you're unable to engage on your course, attend lectures or receive your User ID and campus card.

Here we've put together some key information about the enrolment process and the support available to you. We recommend that you enrol as early as possible to ensure you're fully set up and ready to go from day one.

Online enrolment

Once you have your Confirmation Letter, you'll be able to enrol yourself online. You can enrol through MyApplication where you will be able to see the Enrolment option. Enrolment will open shortly after you've had your results confirmed - commonly from 26 August onwards – don't worry we’ll give you prompts along the way.

The online enrolment process usually takes around 5-10 minutes and is a series of questions relating to yourself, your studies and funding. Our online enrolment will give you the opportunity to confirm all of your details with us which include the details of your programme of studies, your funding as well as your personal details so we can ensure you're set up and ready to go.

If you haven't already enrolled onto Flying Start, once you have completed your online enrolment, you'll be provided with your new University User ID so you can access our wide range of resources. You will also get access to our handy What Next? Checklist to show you what else you need to do to get prepared for University life.

What happens next?

Once you have completed your online enrolment, we'll get started on getting you set up and settled. There will be some things you will need to do quickly, and some things we'll take care of for you. These include:

  • Your User ID & multi factor authentication
We'll email your personal email address with your User ID alongside information on how to reset your password and set up Microsoft Authenticator - something you will become very familiar with during your studies.
You can find out more on our Get Set Up pages

  • Your induction timetable
Following online enrolment, we'll provide you with access to your Induction Timetable through the What Next? checklist on e:Vision.
You can find out more on our Timetable page.

  • Your Canvas account
We'll start the process to provide you with access to everything you need for your learning. Most notably, this will be Canvas your virtual learning environment.
You can find out more on our Get Set Up pages

  • Your Campus Card photograph
You will need your campus card to get into buildings and access facilities, register your attendance, borrow books or laptops and even travel for free between campuses. So it's important you upload your photograph as soon as you can.
You can find out more about your campus card on our Campus Card page

  • Enrolment confirmations (Student Loans Company)
For students who are sponsored by the Student Loans Company, we'll confirm your enrolment with them so that they can release any funding to you.

Don't worry though, we know there's a lot to take in and get settled with - so we'll provide you with our handy What Next? checklist on e:Vision that will give you quick links to the things you need - including our enquiry portal Compass, so if you ever do have a question, you can have it answered by our Student Enquiries team.

If you're unable to enrol online prior to arriving on campus, don't worry. We have a dedicated on-campus enrolment hub here to support you through the enrolment process. You will find the Enrolment Hub on the Ground Floor, Gateway Building at City Campus between 10am-4pm daily.

Our Enrolment Hub is split into two key zones to help you during your first few weeks. Here you will find:

  • Enrolment Zone
For those that have not yet completed online enrolment, you will find friendly staff here to help guide you through the online enrolment process and beyond. We have laptops ready and waiting and will be able to guide you through the online enrolment process.

  • Enquiry Zone
Home to the Student Enquiries team as well as Digital Services, in this area you will find a bunch of staff ready and waiting to help you no matter what your enquiry is.

It is very important as part of your enrolment at the University of Sunderland that you provide us with all of your immigration documents and contact details while here in the U.K.

Before you enrol, we'll ask you to provide all of the documents to us, either through CAS Shield or by sending them directly.

For more information on the documents we require from international students, visit our International Document Collection page.
