Once you have downloaded our Virtual Campus you'll need to register with your university email account. It's important that you register with your student email address which will be userid@student.sunderland.ac.uk. You can then create your own password. You will also be sent an access code to be able to join our Virtual Campus.
Once registered you can then sign in with your University email & password you've just set and you'll be ready to create your own avatar.
Please remember, when you log in to VirBELA you will be taken to the VirBELA Open Campus, where you are able to interact with any other user on the VirBELA platform. You will be provided with an access code so you can access a private team suite which is a bespoke area that only University of Sunderland students and staff can access.
Within our private team suites you will be able to meet other students and get guidance from staff, take part in events and quizzes, and even attend an online Freshers Fair.
Your avatar is your character on our Virtual Campus, you and other users will be able to not only see but also interact with your avatar.
The first time you sign in you'll be presented with an option to create your avatar. You can simply select from a variety of different options and customise your avatar to include features such as hats, glasses and other accessories.
Once you have created your avatar simply select the save and go button and this will take you into our Virtual Campus. Don't worry if you don't like your avatar, or if you simply just want a change of clothes or accessories, you can always go back at a later stage and customise your avatar.
You can develop your Avatar now before the University of Sunderland Freshers Welcome Week opens on the 14 September. You can also change your Avatar name and add any pronouns you may prefer by clicking your name in the top left blue menu then clicking Profile.
There will be full access to VirBELA - including interaction with our new students, the Students Union and academics - from Monday 14 September.
Please note if you are a new student you will receive an email from 11th September giving you an access code to the Private Team Suite, allowing you access to the Freshers Welcome Week area.
