When it comes to finances, there's a lot going on. Here we simplify things from knowing how to pay whether you're self-funded or a sponsored student to how we confirm your enrolment with the Student Loans Company.
The best way to pay your fees is through our PayPortal online where you can pay your tuition fees easily and securely online via Flywire. Flywire accepts payments in your own currency, using local payment methods. They offer real-time tracking and around-the-clock multilingual support.
If you require guidance on payment methods, please submit an enquiry on Compass.
If you are an international student, your instalment plan will be detailed on your offer letter as well as during your online enrolment process. As part of online enrolment, you will then confirm you abide by the terms of conditions of that payment plan.
Please note, that although the payment plan has set deadlines, you do not need to wait until the deadline to make your instalment payment. Therefore if you wish to pay early, you can do so. For example, this could come in handy if you believe the currency may fluctuate negatively in the future.
We also have a variety of information available on our International Instalments webpage.
The last payment date specified on your instalment plan is the final payment date. If the funds have not been received by the University of Sunderland by this date, then you will be contacted by the Credit Control Team for late payment. Restrictions will be applied to your account up to and including exclusion, which may affect your visa and your right to stay in the UK.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of all payment amounts and due dates for payment, this information will be readily available on e:Vision. It is also your responsibility to ensure that payments are received no later than the dates specified considering any processing times may be required.
If you are sponsored by the Student Loans Company, as long as you have advised us through the online enrolment process and completed all elements of your enrolment, we will automatically confirm your enrolment dates with the loan company so that they can process and release any applicable funding to you.
Depending on the day you complete your enrolment, this notification will happen on the same day or day after you have completed your enrolment. It can take a few days for this to show on your student loans account portal and may take a day or so for the loans company to process and release your funds.
If you are a Canadian student sponsored by OSAP or other government funding bodies, you may be required to complete a specific form or a series of forms detailing your course information for each academic year you are studying with us.
If you require any assistance in completing these forms, we recommend that you submit an enquiry on Compass. All forms will then be processed by Gateway and submitted back to you, with a digital stamp via your Compass enquiry.
Some of these forms are also for the calendar year rather than academic year, if this is the case, we will ensure that your payable fees for the calendar year are documented within that format.
If you are a student with a sponsor who is paying for the full or partial amount of your fees, you will need to provide the university with your financial guarantee/sponsor letter.
This is simply a document that is provided to you by your sponsor to detail that they are responsible for your fees and what amount. This document should include not only the fee amount they are responsible for but it should also include your student details, in particular your student number and the academic year that they are sponsoring you for.
Our Student Administration team usually collects this document before your enrolment. If you do have a sponsor, you can send the document on their behalf or have your sponsor send this directly to studentadmin@sunderland.ac.uk.
Please note, if your sponsor is funding less than the full amount of the tuition fee or withdraws the sponsorship during the financial year for any reason, it is your responsibility to pay any outstanding amount.
