About PASS

PASS (Peer Assisted Study Sessions) was first piloted at the University of Sunderland in September 2019 on Education Studies and Sports and Exercise Science and was greatly beneficial to the students who took part. Since then we have expanded year on year and now offer PASS across several subjects including Biomedical Sciences, School of Computing and School of Psychology.

Our aim at the University of Sunderland is to provide a peer-led learning environment where you are encouraged to participate in friendly, non-judgmental academic development on topics studied in class, using agendas created by you, the student to answer your questions.

PASS also aims to aid your transition into University by improving your academic understanding, building your confidence and developing your study skills as you contribute to group discussions with your peers and second year PASS Leaders. PASS sessions not only allow you to work towards better academic knowledge, but also provides opportunities to socialise with peers and provide a sense of belonging on your course.

If you would like to know more about the benefits of attending a PASS session to your learning, then you can find out more here...
