School sport

The University is always looking for ways to develop its students and help provide them with experiences that will help them excel in the working world. Helping schools deliver their sport programs is a great way for our students to gain experience in the school systems.

There are over 12 secondary, and a further 74 Primary Schools in the City of Sunderland, who all have the challenge of ensuring their pupils have the right level of sport and physical activity.

We look to partner volunteers up with individual schools allowing them to get ownership over projects and develop as future teachers and coaches.

We currently work closely with Durham County RFC offering students a chance to gain their level 2 coaching qualification for free as long as they commit to delivering a block of coaching in a Sunderland school resulting in a team playing in a local tournament.
