Events
Over the course of the year our clubs and teams are invited to take part in various events, these include two Varsity competitions, Freshers Fair and Sports Ball.
The two varsity events include one at the very beginning of the sporting year against York St John University and one at the end against local rivals Teesside University.
These two events are both an important part of the sporting calendar and are a great opportunity for students to enjoy some friendly competition outside of the usual BUCS competition, as well as claiming bragging rights!
Freshers' Fair helps recruit new and returning students for sports clubs while our annual Sports Ball recognises the achievements of our teams and members across the academic year.
Clash of the Minsters
Clash of the Minsters sees Team Sunderland's clubs take on York St John in an action packed day of sport that acts as a pre-season event before BUCS competition kicks off.

TeesWear Varsity
TeesWear Varsity is the annual sporting event that sees University of Sunderland sports teams take on those from Teesside University. The one-day event started in the year 2000 and saw students from across 20 teams play each other in their chosen sport.

The Team Sunderland Annual Ball is our chance to celebrate everything we have achieved this academic year.
Whether it’s a new club competing in a BUCS league or an individual representing the University at a national event, no achievement is too big or small.
