Clash of the Minsters
Clash of the Minsters sees Team Sunderland's clubs take on York St John in an action packed day of sport.
Following on from the success of TeesWear Varsity, Laura Hockaday set up the pre BUCS season varsity Clash of the Minsters against York St John University in 2013.
The event sees students from both universities compete in their chosen sport over the course of a single day to win the David Fleming Cup.
Serving as the ideal event to kick off the sporting year Clash of the Minsters aims to bring the teams together and welcome freshers to the university competition environment.
Like TeesWear Varsity, this event continues to grow each year and there are now over 1000 students competing in the event.
Team Sunderland won the 2023 edition 45-6.
