Your Next Steps

If you have just received information stating you are required to repeat a module and you are unsure of your next steps, please follow the guidance below.

Check your Modules

The first thing to do would be to find out which modules you are repeating.

Please visit your eVision account and open your transcript for this Academic Year.

Modules which show 'F' as the overall grade are the ones you have failed and must repeat. If there is more than one, you must repeat all failed modules.

You should see the Overall Board Decision as ‘Fail and Repeat - Same Stage’.

You can get help in understanding your results and where to locate them, simply visit
Find my results (sharepoint.com)

Determine the Module Cost and Start Date

For the cost, you would need to contact our Student Administration department with your student number and the module codes of the ones you have failed. For example, ‘MGT103’.

For the start date, your module will likely begin during the same semester as it did the previous year. However, you can request the official expected start date from your Programme Support team.

You can contact both of these teams by raising an enquiry on Compass.

Speak to Support Services

Home or EU Students:
If you are a student receiving funding from SLC or Student Finance England, you will need to make a new application for your repeat modules. We would advise you to speak to our Student Financial Guidance team.

International Students:
If you are currently on a Student Route visa you may need to speak to our International Student Support team to ensure you are aware of any implications or if an extension is required.

You can find a full list of support services here

Complete your Re-enrolment

If you are happy to repeat the modules you failed, you must complete your re-enrolment. By completing this process, you are confirming your intention to continue your studies and liability to pay for your repeat modules (whether this is SLC funded or self-funded).

After you have completed your re-enrolment, it may take a few weeks for your timetable to be generated.
You can keep an eye on the timetable website here for updates to your personal schedule.

Please note, that if you are repeating modules from Semester 2, you may be placed on an Academic Leave of Absence. You can read more about this here.
You will not receive your timetable until closer to the time of study.

Academic Appeal

If you are unhappy with repeating failed modules and believe this decision may be incorrect, you can appeal the PTPM decision. However, you must prove either procedural irregularity or unconsidered extenuating circumstances.

You must submit your academic appeal form within two weeks of the publication of your results.

There are two stages to an academic appeal, firstly you need to submit an academic appeal to your faculty. If you are unhappy with the decision, you can submit a formal academic appeal.

You can access information about the academic appeals process here.

You can receive independent guidance from the Sunderland Student's Union regarding the appeals process
