The Start-up Visa scheme is aimed at people who wish to establish a business in the UK. The University of Sunderland is one of the UK Higher Education Institutions authorised to endorse a limited number of Start-up visas per year.
The Start-up visa is issued for two years. This visa type cannot be extended however you may be eligible to switch into the Innovator visa scheme.
The Enterprise scheme is open to University of Sunderland graduates only. Graduates of other universities will not be considered for the University of Sunderland’s Enterprise Scheme and Start-up Visa endorsement.
To be considered for the Start-up visa you must first contact the University of Sunderland’s Enterprise Place team.
There is a formal application process and your business plan will be assessed to decide if your proposal can be endorsed. You need to contact the Enterprise Place team a minimum three months prior to your Tier 4 (General) visa expiry date if you intend to apply.
International Student Support helps University of Sunderland graduates switch from Tier 4 leave to Start-up Visa. This process will only begin once your business idea has been provisionally accepted by the Enterprise team.
