Student Journey / Student Information / University Systems / Canvas - Virtual Learning Environment
Student on a computer

Canvas is the University's VLE, it's where all your course content and information from module and programme leaders will be placed so that you can access them 24/7. You'll also be able to chat with staff via Canvas as well as view course / module calendars to keep up to date with what's happening.

Canvas is where all your Programme and Module content is stored. Your Lecturers will store all your learning materials on here for you to easily access.

Canvas will not only allow you to view learning materials but it will also be where the majority of your assessments will be submitted through the Turnitin system. You're also able to use Canvas as a way of communicating with your lecturers.

Flying Start

Flying Start has been designed to help you understand what studying at university really means. It also has a pre-arrival activity that is related to your induction week which you will need to complete.

As you will discover, university is quite different from school or college, but with help from your lecturers and tutors you will quickly adapt and learn how to study effectively and independently in your new environment.

Take your time to work through the four sections of Flying Start. Each one introduces new information about your course, support and the University. It also gives you the opportunity to ask questions throughout which will be answered by University staff.
