As a global-facing institution, we understand that events across the world impact our University community in many ways.
If you feel affected by global events, you can access support provided by a range of dedicated services for students.
The Wellbeing team offers emotional, spiritual and physical support. The services offered range from self-help resources to one-to-one sessions and group support.
You may need spiritual support during difficult times, or simply need space to reflect. Our Chaplaincy service is open to everyone, whether you follow a faith or not.
If you feel that events taking place in the world may impact your ability to focus on your studies, please speak to your Programme or Module Leader for advice on how to manage your studies. They may also direct you to access additional, specialist support.
We want you to enjoy your university experience both on and off campus. However, it is important to know what to do should you feel unsafe.
We have a dedicated security team operating across our campuses to support you if you have any concerns.
This includes if you feel you have been discriminated against due to your background or beliefs. The UK is an inclusive, accepting society and this is an integral part of our culture at the University of Sunderland.
There are a number of methods in place to allow any victim of crime or witness to an incident to report their concerns to the University Security team or UK Police. This service is 24/7 and reports can be made by:
The UK Government maintains a website on travel advice to destinations around the world. This is frequently updated based on global events, particularly in relation to travel safety and necessary precautions.
Remember, if you are thinking of travelling to or from a country to which the UK Government has applied specific travel advice, contact our International Student Support team to discuss any impact on your immigration status.
