UKVI account

UKVI has replaced physical documents with an online record of your immigration status. This is known as an eVisa.

Your eVisa is an online record of your UK immigration status and the conditions of your visa permission to enter/stay in the UK.

To access your eVisa, you must create an online UKVI account.

Create your UKVI account

Before you start creating your UKVI account, you will require give a phone number and email address you can use again. You will use them each time you prove your immigration status online during this process.

You will also require one of the following, if you have them:

  • a valid passport and your visa application number - this is a global web form (GWF) number or unique application number (UAN)
  • a valid passport and your biometric residence permit (BRP) number
  • your BRP card - this can be expired

You will need access to a smartphone so that you can install the UKVI ID Immigration app scan/verify your passport so you can confirm your identity during this process.

Update your UKVI account

To sign in and update your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account, you’ll need:

  • your identity document, and
  • access to your phone or email address

To sign in, use the identity document and contact details you gave when you applied, unless you have already used this service to update them.

If you’re updating your name, date of birth or nationality, you’ll also need an identity document that proves the change is needed.

Share codes

The online method of proving your immigration permissions is called a Share Code. This can be used to prove your right to rent and right to work in the UK. You will also be expected to provide a share code to the university during your enrolment process to prove your student route visa details. For more information and how to access it, see HERE.
