Applying for a Student Route visa

We have a wide range of student support services that are here to support students throughout their journey.

Below you'll be able to see which teams can support you.

Applying in the UK

If you require a visa extension to allow you to complete the remainder of your course, International Student Support will assess whether you are eligible to apply from within the UK. If you meet the necessary requirements, we will begin the CAS process no earlier than 3 months before your visa expiry date. You must apply for a Student Route visa extension by your current expiry date on your BRP card.

Once we have received the required information from your faculty, we will contact you via Compass. We will also send you our Student Care Letter that will outline the terms and conditions of your CAS process, the required documentation and a full breakdown of maintenance requirements and costs.

Once you have met these requirements, International Student Support will assign you a CAS number. We will then contact you to attend an appointment where we shall support you with submitting your student visa application form.

Applying outside the UK

If the UKVI guidance requires you to make a Student Route visa application from outside the UK (Entry Clearence), International Student Support will support you through the CAS process via Compass.

You may be applying for a Student Route visa because you are currently on a Leave of Absence (link to LOAB page), or you have transferred to a new course and your current visa length does not cover the full duration of your new course, or possibly you have dropped to a lower RQF level.

International Student Support will contact you via Compass 3 months before your course resumption date to begin the CAS process. We will also send you a Student Care Letter that will outline the terms and conditions of your CAS process, the required documentation and a full breakdown of maintenance requirements and costs.

Once you have met these requirements, International Student Support will assign you a CAS number. You will then be able to make your Student Route visa application.

Unsuccessful Applications

If your Student Route visa application has been rejected or refused, there may be grounds to challenge this decision via an Administrative Review.

Please contact International Student Support via Compass for further advice.
