Placement Year

You may decide you would like to undertake a placement year during your time at University. A placement year will allow you to take a year out from your studies to gain industry relevant experience in a job role related to your studies.

Guidance

Before you discuss the implications a placement year may have on your visa, you will need to ensure you speak to your Faculty Placement Officer at the earliest opportunity to discuss your options.

Once you have had this discussion, you will then be directed to International Student Support. Taking a placement year will have an impact on your Student Route Visa. You will be required to make an extension before you start your placement year or when you have completed your placement and you return to your studies.

In both circumstances, you must apply up to 3 months before your placement start date, or up to 3 months before the start date of your final year of study. International Student Support will guide you through this process.
