Leave of Absence from Studies

If sickness or other personal circumstances prevent you from attending classes or completing assignments, you may be required to take a leave of absence from your course and defer your studies to the next available start date.

Guidance

If your leave of absence exceeds 60 consecutive days (excluding vacation periods) the University of Sunderland must notify the UKVI and withdraw your Student visa sponsorship. This will result in visa curtailment and expiration earlier than the date printed on your Biometrics Residence Permit (BRP) card. The UKVI will notify you of your curtailment period in due course via email and post. You will be expected to leave the UK by the final expiry date on your UKVI curtailment notice.

If your attendance is required on campus to complete your studies, International Student Support will help you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) + Student visa application process to facilitate your return to campus so you can resume your studies.
